Bulgarian Property Market Recently reported in a leading Bulgarian newspaper the 'Sofia Echo'(May2007) was the following article:

Foreign citizens and companies have spent a total of 310 million euro in acquiring real estate in Bulgaria during the first three months of 2007.

Bulgarian National Bank data published on May 29 shows that the 310 million euro is an increase of 63 per cent compared with the same period in 2006 when foreigners spent a total of 190 million euro in Bulgaria’s property market.  Proof of the impact that the real estate sector has on the Bulgarian economy is that the money spent on real estate accounted for close to 40 per cent of all foreign direct investment in Bulgaria in January-March 2007.  In 2006 foreign investors spent a total of 1.1 billion euro in Bulgarian properties, a record since democracy was established in the country 17 years ago.  As BNB data show, this level will reach new heights by the end of this year.  As in previous years, UK citizens remain the most interested foreigners in Bulgarian properties.  Their focus is on Black Sea properties. (Ref:Sofia Echo)

The share of UK investments accounts for 16.4 per cent of the overall investment in the sector

The land of roses, Bulgaria, is a small country of ancient culture, scenic beauty, friendly people, hospitality and warmth situated in south-eastern Europe.  It occupies the central part of Balkan peninsula on both sides of the Balkan Range (the Balkans), from which the peninsula has taken its name.  The greater part of the northern border with Romania passes along the Danube, and the eastern border is the Black Sea.  The borders are with Yugoslavia and Macedonia to the west, Turkey to the south-east, and Greece to the south.

There is an extensive network of air, road and train services.  Most tourist sites are accessible by public transport.  Buses are common for urban transport and trams and trolley buses are typical in the big cities.  There are many taxis in all towns and car hire is amongst the cheapest in Europe.

Today, Bulgaria has a renewed sense of pride and optimism.  Visitors can enjoy a new energy and a wonderfully fresh spirit on its streets; there's designer boutiques and cosmopolitan cuisine, grocery stores full of local produce and glossy magazines on the news-stands.

In Bulgaria you can step into swirling modern health spas or plunge into mud baths that date back to Roman times.  Winter ski in the mountains of Bansko or enjoy the summer playgrounds of the Black Sea Riviera.  Depending on how you feel, you can spend the day scuba diving, water skiing and paragliding or simply relax from dawn to dusk.  With something for everyone and a great future just starting, Bulgaria is the place to be in the 21st Century.
